Webtacular World Issue #137, July 17, 2016

Greetings Webtaculators. I wanted this week’s edition to start off differently – I really did. I don’t enjoy writing about the bad things in the world that are happening on a seemingly increasing basis. I mean, statistically, humanity is in a better place than it has been. However, with the increase of access to information, everything feels personal. Moreover, because this information is now delivered in an almost instantaneous manner and in such a large amount, the associated analysis of these events often arrives way after the event is already history. Remember Brexit? Remember the Panama Papers? Remember the Oregon Bundy Militia? All of these these things happened this year, but it probably doesn’t feel like it. It also doesn’t help that what actually is reported as fact is more likely not to be, all because we can communicate without needing to think first (see, e.g., Trump tweets [or don’t]). Hopefully, good news starts coming our way soon. On to the news.

What: France And Turkey And Baton Rouge, AGAIN
Why: Because are the stories that represent a growing sense of helplessness and malaise in the world.
