Why: Because a Kim went to South Korea for the first time since the split between North and South. It is also increasingly difficult to determine what, if any, role the U.S. played in orchestrating this extraordinary event.

NONSENSE OF THE WEEK (who cares)
What: Anything Trump Did
Why: Because he ranted uninterrupted for 30 minutes on Fox and Friends regarding everything from admitting Cohen represented him in a Stormy Daniels deal to who knows what, got chewed out by Michelle Wolf, somehow became besties with Kanye because they are Dragon Energy, and already uprooted a sapling planted by Macron after the French President’s visit where he gave a better speech in English in a speech than Trump ever has. Everything here is stupid, and it was only one week.

ECONOMIC THING OF THE WEEK (4 min. read)
What: Competition!
Why: Because an industry where last place still gets a bronze medal is not a competitive market. Or how about America’s Car Maker basically stops making different kinds cars?

LAW THING OF THE WEEK (2 min. read)
What: Guilty
Why: Because I find it amazing a jury actually found Bill Cosby to be guilty – not because the didn’t point to that outcome (it clearly did), but because celebrity no longer seems to be the shield that it once was.

A LITTLE BIT OF EVERYTHING OF THE WEEK (5 min. read)
What: Golden State Killer
Why: Through a combination of a cold case, America’s obsession with murder cases, a late author’s obsession / her comedian husband’s continuation of carrying on her work, police state technology, the man people are pretty sure is the Golden State Killer was arrested.

SPORTS THING OF THE WEEK (3 min. read)
What: PLAYOFFS!
Why: Because both Bay Area teams made it past the first round, so I’m still invested.

MOVIE THING OF THE WEEK (5 min. read)
What: Steamroll
Why: Because the largest movie franchise in history just had the largest weekend box office for the largest ensemble of superheroes, that somehow didn’t collapse under all of that weight. Go see Avengers before it sees you, or something.

MUSIC THING OF THE WEEK (48 min. watch)
What: Dirty Computer
Why: Because Janelle Monáe’s (yes, I know that this is the third time I’m writing about her in the past few weeks, but it’s so much better than whatever this garbage is) album / movie is a true work of art.

PHOTOGRAPHY THING OF THE WEEK (quick look)
What: Historic
Why: Because Kim Jong-un and Moon Jae-in meeting at the DMZ is an amazing display of politics-not-as-usual.

LITERATURE THING OF THE WEEK (5 min. read)
What: A Dumb List To Argue About
Why: Because clickbait of books that you don’t have to read that includes the Bible means that the comments and outrage is probably out of control. So instead, here’s why Margaret Atwood wrote The Handmaid’s Tale, a book you definitely should read.

VIDEO GAME THING OF THE WEEK (6 min. read)
What: Think Of The Frozen Children
Why: Because in a video game where the cold kills indiscriminately, maybe sending kids to work in mines isn’t such a bad outcome?
